Stop The Bleed®

This course is intended to help you recognise life-threatening bleeding and show you how to help.

The Stop the Bleed® initiative was launched in response to the tragic school shooting at Sandy Hook, Connecticut, USA. Its mission is simple yet powerful: to equip everyday people with the skills to save lives in emergencies, before professional help arrives.

This course is designed for first responders, giving you the confidence and capability to act as an Immediate Responder. In critical moments, your actions can make all the difference.

What you’ll learn

You’ll be guided through straightforward, life-saving techniques:

  • Applying direct pressure to control bleeding
  • Packing wounds with gauze or clean cloth
  • Using a tourniquet, if advised by emergency services (dial 000)

These methods are easy to learn and proven to save lives.
